Youth Flyer 2014

Following high levels of interest we are holding a second session on Sunday 4th May. The session will take place in Edinburgh, on the Upper Pitches at Fettes Prep School. Accessed from East Fettes Avenue. E-mail your interest to Dunkan using the link below.

Due to the tight timescales, all training for this event will be in Edinburgh. The first introduction session will be on Sun, 27 April, 10:00 – 12:00.

At the Taster Session you will meet current players and other young people like you, who are keen to find out more about this sport and what’s involved in becoming part of the Scottish Touch U18 Mixed Squad.

  • Touch is fast moving. A game of Touch last 40 minutes – twenty mins each way.
  • Touch is a minimum contact sport. There is no tackling, rucking, mauling or holding of players. There are no scrums or lineouts.

  • There is no kicking either and the rules are straightforward too - simple to learn and understand.

  • Teams have six players on the field at any one time and up to eight substitutes. Players can substitute at any time during the game and as often as they want.

  • There are three referees to control the game, they have equal status and constantly interchange during the game.

  • A team has six plays to score a touchdown. If they do not score the ball is handed to the opposing team unless a penalty has been awarded against the opposition.

  • All plays start with the ball on the ground and the teams 5 metres apart. A player steps over the ball and it is passed between players until a touchdown is achieved or the player with the ball is touched by one of the opposing team.

  • A touch by an opposing player stops a single play.
