It is with great sadness and deep shock that the STA announces the death of Simon Yarrow. Simon took his own life on Tuesday morning, 6 December 2011 after fighting depression for a number of months.

At the Scottish Sports Association (SSA) AGM on 20 September 2011, STA Vice President Gordon McEwen accepted the offer of Associate Membership into the SSA. The SSA brings Scottish sports governing bodies and recreation organisations together in a powerful group which strives to make sure that sports policies work in practice.

Scottish teams were competitive on home soil in the seventh Touch World Cup, which took place at Peffermill Playing Fields in Edinburgh. Although the tournament was dominated by Australia, who claimed five of the seven divisions at the event, Scottish squads performed better than in previous years and competed well in all divisions.
