Scotland Open Squads announce 2022 Coaching Teams
13 Nov 2021 @ 0:00 GMT
Today (13 November) we will host our talented playing group for the first Open trial leading towards the Touch Euros 2022. We are sure the players are itching to get going after an empty 2020 and a disrupted 2021.
But alongside them is our Coaching group who are equally excited to get going and start the journey to Nottingham.
Eddie Sanjuan racks up his 9th season with Women’s Open and will be raring to go after 2021 brought the first victory for Scotland over Wales in this division since 2006. He will be assisted by Ryan James who continues with the squad having started ahead of the 2018 Euros. Lastly, a new addition of Isma Perez has arrived with the WO, to focus on fitness & conditioning topics. He will be a key addition and to reflect the importance of this topic he will be just the first step in a recruitment process aimed at improving and expanding the S&C/fitness programme that will benefit all 3 Open teams ahead of 2022 Euros. You will meet all 3 at the upcoming trial.
The Men’s division in 2021 showed a very high quality and tightly contested group of the 4 Home Nations - it’s by far the closest the division has been for many years. Opportunity knocks and a newly formed coaching group will be headed up by Robbie McKenzie. The group, including the experienced Scotland MO coach Mon Wallace, will take the team forward in this exciting division and we can’t wait to see what can be achieved. The combined experience and expertise will be unmatched. Robbie will be at the trial on Sunday.
In Mixed we keep the exciting, fresh and talented coaching group of Alan Clephane and Freddie Main who debuted in the 2021 season. The fast paced, free flowing touch will continue and the progress made in only 2 weekends during this season is sure to motivate these coaches to great things in 2022. Alan will be present on Sunday.
We look forward to seeing you at the trial!
