Signals
Signals are a necessary part of a referee's game. They help to inform players, coaches, referee colleagues and spectators of a variety of situations and rulings. When done well, they help the match flow, minimise disruptions in play and allow the referee team to maintain good control of the game.
All signals shown below should all be done in an unhurried but authoritative manner. They should be precise so that they are easily understood and often require a whistle and additional commentary to help convey the decision.
