Scottish Touch Wins Funding Boost For Juniors

National Lottery have today awarded Scottish Touch a grant of £7,000 to plough into its Youth Academy programme.

The grant is a welcome boost to Scottish Touch’s highly successful youth setup that has seen four teams take part in each of the last three European Junior Touch Championships, most recently in Paris.  Many of these players now feature regularly for clubs and the open national squads, including this year’s bronze medal winning Scottish Mixed Open team at the Touch World Cup in Malaysia.

Ann Maitland, who led the grant application process said: “Our coaches do an absolutely phenomenal job with the resources they have.  This funding will help, especially in giving young people that initial taste of Touch.  In particular, we want to see more girls get involved – that will give a massive boost to our girls and mixed teams.”

Detailed planning will be drawn up soon in preparation for the 2020 JTC due to take place in Wales.
