Scottish Touch wish to express our deep sorrow at the loss of Scotland player Duncan Mackay, and our condolences to all his family and friends.
Duncan died in a car accident in Caithness, northern Scotland, on Friday March 30. He was travelling to see his family in Thurso for Easter.
Duncan, 37, had an illustrious career in Touch, culminating in numerous appearances for Scotland. Most recently, his talent and experience had won him a place in the Scotland M35 squad preparing for this year’s European Championships in Nottingham.
Duncan also had a longstanding club career, which started with co-founding a side formed with friends from Heriot Watt University, Touch Watt. He later played with Edinburgh’s Superhands club before moving to Manchester and joining the Manchester Chargers.
Duncan was popular and well-loved by former and current team-mates. Duncan was a big part of our Touch family and he will be sorely missed both on and off the field.
