National Squad gather near Glasgow

26 Jan 2016 @ 16:00 GMT

This weekend sees the first National Squad training weekend of 2016.

After what was a very successful innovative training and selection weekend in December the now selected training squads will gather once again at Ravenscraig Regional Sports centre on Saturday.

This is the first opportunity that the players will have to train within their selected squads and under the watchful eye of their respective coaches. For some it is yet another Scotland campaign, for others their first chance to train towards international competition. Either way, it will be one of the strongest Scotland squads ever gathered and those organising the National Squad are hopeful that this is going to be the start of a successful year for Scottish Touch.

The December training weekend confirmed that using the facilities at Ravenscraig will be of great benefit to the Scotland squad. Both January and February sessions will take place at this facility and its use shows that the Scotland squad will make use of some of the best venues available.

National Squad Director Martin Macari said "Coming to Ravenscraig is a demonstration of intent. We want success for Scotland at this year's European Championships, we have the players to be successful and we want to give those players the best opportunity to be achieve that success"

Training begins 10am Saturday and 9am Sunday and players should be there for those times.
