New direction for International Senior Touch

22 May 2015 @ 13:00 BST

Scottish Touch is delighted to announce the latest addition to the Volunteer Team.

As we look to develop on the success of the Senior Mixed in Swansea last year, Scottish Touch have introduced a new post which focuses on the Senior teams within the National Squad, We are delighted that after a recruitment process, Martin Macari has accepted the post.

On accepting his new role Martin said:

"I am delighted to have been appointed to the role, the creation of which demonstrates that the continued success of Scottish Masters' Touch is a priority for the NSMC.

We are keen to make Scotland the top European nation in senior touch, building on the success of the Mixed Masters at the Euros in 2014. Our aim must be to enter competitive teams in all senior divisions in the next Euros in 2016.

To do so we need to ensure that as many current players as possible remain committed to Scottish Touch and that we can encourage former players to return. We need to continue the progression of age qualified players from the open divisions but identify players new to the international set up.

With two senior divisions at the Nationals in September, the Regions will already have an extra incentive to focus on that category. But there is much more that can be done.

I would like those who are selected for the senior teams within the Scottish squad to feel proud to be part of that group and know that their contributions and abilities are full recognised. Those on the NSMC are determined to ensure that is the case."
