National Youth Academy Director and National Youth Coach Named

The Scottish Touch Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Ebbett as National Youth Academy Director and Dunkan Armstrong as National Youth Coach.

Together, they will look to build upon Scotland's successful bronze medal at the Junior European Touch Championships in Swansea last summer and establish a firm foundation for youth touch teams to take on the best European youth teams in 2015.

The pair will also look to build pathways from the youth ranks into the open divisions.

Scottish Touch President David Matthew said, "We are very fortunate to have found two people with such a strong track record for these positions.

"Simon has extensive coaching experience from successive international tournaments and is on the FIT Coaching Commission while Dunkan was responsible for coaching last summer's successful Under 18's Mixed side.

"Together, this gives us a strong team for the future."

New National Youth Academy Director, Simon Ebbett added, “I’m very thankful to the STA for the opportunity to lead such an exciting project.

"Scottish Touch has enjoyed significant success in recent years, and a strong youth programme is vital to sustaining this.

"We will be developing and delivering an ambitious programme, built on three aims: giving young players a strong technical and tactical foundation in touch; a solid base in all aspects of athletic performance and development; and further developing the STA’s pathways between recreational and elite touch.

"I’m really looking forward to working with Dunkan, the STA and our partners."
