Sport shows renewed commitment to keeping clean

The Scottish Touch Association has pledged its commitment to anti-doping rules.

Directorss of the STA board voted unanimously to pass the policy, which ties in with the principles of clean sport.

The step means that all participant members of the STA and its regional affiliates are now required to adhere to the UK Anti-Doping Rules (a PDF is available here).

STA President, David Matthew, said: "This is another landmark step for Scottish Touch as it takes us another step closer to meeting the requirements for recognition.

"Fair play and honesty run to the heart of our sport on-field so it's good to have that reflected off-field too."

Michael Short, STA Performance Director added: "We've always signed up to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regs for international events so this is the next logical step.

"Most players, coaches and referees won't notice a practical difference but we should collectively make sure that we keep prohibited substances out of our sport.

"That means just being a little more careful and checking the UKAD list if you aren't sure."
