Eleven referees from Scotland have been selected by the European Federation of Touch to officiate at this year's European Touch Championships.

The referees will join with others from around the continent, to faciliate matches at the flagship European competition this August.

One of those selected was Aberdeen referee Duncan Smart. He said: "I was absolutely delighted to receive the email confirming my place at the Euros, and I am looking forward to representing Scotland as a referee in Swansea.

"Having thoroughly enjoyed my experience refereeing at the Mainland Cup in Vienna last year, I decided to try out for selection as a referee for the Euros rather than signing up for the M40s squad.

"With only seven guaranteed Tier 1 places, together with minimum fitness requirements being introduced for the first time, there has been healthy competition at all of the squad training sessions; but also a great team spirit both on and off the pitch.
