Stirling Touch Club have been introducing touch to local Cub Scouts

On Tuesday 30th April, the 7th Beechwood Cubs in Stirling held a ‘Taster for Touch’ session for their Sports Enthusiast badge.  International Touch player and Physical Education teacher at Beaconhurst School, Jennifer Wright delivered the session with Tracy Austin and Gilly Marshall from Stirling Touch Club.  The 35 young Cubs had a fantastic time running around practising some Touch specific skills on a beautiful evening and at the end of the session they were confidently displaying their skills, teamwork and quite a competitive edge in the games.

Touch is a relatively new sport in Scotland played by both male and females and can be played by all ages from these 8 year olds Cubs to adults of various ages who have never picked up a ball and ex-rugby players looking for similar skills but less contact. We have seven competing Scottish Squads and in the Open division Scotland are currently European Champions and ranked 8th in the world(FIT website). All squads are now training towards the Home Nations tournament in Dublin on 21-22nd June 2013.  Stirling Touch are the local Touch club who train on Monday evenings at Stirling County Rugby Club and have just launched a new League through Int2 Touch in conjunction with Active Stirling for beginners and those interested in playing on a Wednesday evening 6.30 at Wallace High School.
