Touch Superleague Elite Player Sponsorship Programme

22 May 2013 @ 12:00 BST

Touch Superleague are delighted the announce this year's beneficiaries under the inaugural Touch Superleague Elite Player Sponsorship Programme.

These individuals embody the ethos of Touch Superleague - leadership, delivering to your potential and feeding back into the sport.

This innovative initiative financially assists selected individuals representing each of the Open teams at the forthcoming Home Nations in Dublin, by contributing £200 towards each players' costs.
This years beneficiaries are:

Mens Open - Larry Irwin

Larry is a very important player in the 2013 Mens Open Home Nations squad.  With a reallocation of a number of last year's European Championship winning Mens Open players to this years Mixed Open team, Larry has stepped up into an important leadership role within the team. Larry's attitude in training has been first class and his influence on those around him has been instrumental in the development of a number of new players this year.   In addition to Larry's impact as an influential player within the Mens Open squad, the leadership he has shown this year within the squad embodies Touch Superleague's core principles.

Womens Open - Chloe Lane

Chloe is a rising star within the Womens Open squad.  Chloe was not selected in the original Womens Open squad for the 2012 European Championships, only taking her place following player withdrawals.  Since then, Chloe has developed all facets of her game, such that she is now a 'go to player' within the team.  The development Chloe has shown over the last 12 months is unparalleled within the Scotland squad, and her attitude is a real example to those around her.  Chloe's rising stock embodies Touch Superleague's drive for "delivering to potential" although we know there is still more to come from her.

Mixed Open - Jenn Wright

Jenn is a core member of this years Mixed Open squad having moved across from the Womens Open following the 2012 European Championships.  Jenn looked at home at link in the Mixed Open squad who recently toured to Australia, returning home as the teams second top scorer.  In addition to her core role within the squad, Jenn has undertaken a considerable amount of work developing the sport in the Central region and played a fundamental role in initiating the first ever Stirling Touch leagues earlier this year.  As a school teacher, she has introduced the game to her pupils at Beaconhurst School, a number of whom now attend the Stirling Leagues, local cub scouts and also has plans to work with students at nearby Stirling University.  As well as being a very important member of this years Mixed Open squad, Jenn embodies Touch Superleague's approach to "giving back to the sport".

Congratulations to the three recipients of the 2013 Touch Superleague Elite Player Sponsorship Programme.
