Successful Mixed Open Tour in Australia

Scottish Touch's touring MXO team have become the first European side to win a competitive match against an Australian side.

With 3 Wins and 1 Draw from 9 matches at the 2013 NTL, Scotland's MXO side can fly home confident in the knowledge that they have left their mark on Australian soil.

After a win against South Australia in a Warm up match on Tuesday the team, the narrowly lost to Tasmania (7-6) and ACT (12-10) in the first day of Competition.

Thursday saw Scotland take on South Queensland Sharks- the eventual Tony Eltakchhi Shield winners, Victoria and the Defence Warriors. Despite losing to the Sharks and Victoria earlier in the day, the team battled hard, and narrowly lost 11-9 to the Warriors.

With the matches against the main contenders out of the way, Friday brought with it matches against Sydney Scorpions, Hunter Western Hornets and the Papua New Guinea. 

Going undefeated for the day, with brilliant wins against Hunter Western Hornets and Papua New Guinea, the Scottish side became the first European team to win a competitive match against Australian opposition. A massive feat, not only for Scottish Touch, but also for European Touch. 

Rounding out the Tour with an International Challenge Match on the NTL Finals day, the side triumphed over Hong Kong, 12 touchdowns to 6.

With over 70 touchdowns, the Scottish side were the 5th highest scoring team across all of the NTL divisions, with Scotland number 12 Mikey Short finishing 4th highest in Touchdown table. 

There is no doubt that the successful tour provided the Australians with a great show - demonstrating that Touch in Scotland, and Europe continues to grow from strength to strength.
