Glasgow Touch Association (GTA) President, and Glasgow Lions Coach, Victor Francisco Suarez has been awarded a Community Champion Award.

Victor has been heavily involving in growing the sport of Touch in Glasgow for a number of years now. Glasgow Lions, recently entered 3 teams into the Stirling STS event, which is testament to the growth in numbers, thanks partly to the work of Victor.

Victor, who is orginally from Spain, has also won over 40 caps for his home country, recently winning the European Championship with his Mens 40 side.

Victor was quick to share the credit for the development of the Sport in Glasgow, for which a number of people are heavily involved, as he responded to the comments of congratulations:

"I am very honoured to have all of you as my friends, teammates, opposition in the field, fellow coaches, referees....the award was not for me, it was for the sport and club that I love. I will catch up with you at some point during the rest of the season. Thanks again for the support."

There is no doubt that Touch is growning rapidly in Glasgow, thanks to the work of Victor and the rest of the GTA volunteers. If you want to get involved in Touch, you can sign up for a Free Taster Session here.
