Aberdeen triumph in Perth

Aberdeen MO & WO teams win both National Titles.

The 2013 Scottish Touch National Championships took place in a wet Perth on Saturday, with Aberdeen winning both titles.

After an undefeated Pool stage, Aberdeen Mens team defeated Glasgow in a tight Semi-final, whilst Edinburgh Flames knocked out last years champions Edinburgh Ice in the Semi-finals. 

In a a match that started tight, Aberdeen used their experienced team to their advantage and gradually pulled away from Edinburgh Flames. Flames did pull back to within a score, but it was the trophy was destined for a trip north up the A90 at full time. 

Aberdeen's Ali Gossip took the Mens Most Valued Player (MVP) award.

After a tight pool stage, the semi finalists from the Womens Open competition matched the Mens Open side of the draw, with both Edinburgh sides, and Glasgow & Aberdeen battling it out for a place in the final. Edinburgh Ice and Flames exchanged scores in a tight semi-final, with Ice taking their place in the final by one late score. Aberdeen, who had performed well in the Group Stage, overcame Glasgow in their Semi-final, 5-2.

In the final, Aberdeen took control in the first half, and never looked back, finishing 3-1. 

Clare Gregor Hill took home the female MVP award.

The tournament was well supported by a strong Referee contingent, with two referees, Neil Fox and John Beaton, were upgraded to Level 2. Neil Fox was awarded the Referee of the Tournament as well, 

A special mention should also go to Scottish Touch President, Dave Matthew, who run Tournament Contol on the day, ensuring the Nationals ran smoothly, and on time.
