Meerkats Win Stirling STS in Style

The first Scottish Touch Series event of 2012 started in its now traditional setting of Stirling. 16 teams converged to do battle under sunny skies for the Stirling Open Tournament and valuable points towards the STS title, currently held by Geckos.

STS logo The Cup winners, for the second year in a row, were Meerkats.  Winning out in a very close final against last years STS winners, Geckos.  Silverware was also collected by Superhands (Quaich winners) and two Stirling sides, Flossie Posse (Shield winners) and new side, Bravehearts (Plate winners).  MVP was a close run thing but awards went to Anita Hall (Superhands Academy) and Stuart Johnson (NE Nomads).

Final placings were as follows.

Stirling Open is the first of four events in the Scottish Touch Series.  Placings translate to the following points:

15 - Activitymix Guerillas
14 - Glasgow Lions A
12 - Flossie Posse

The remaining STS events are in Aberdeen on 7th July, Glasgow on 26th August and Edinburgh on 29th September.
