Geckos Grab Glasgow Glory

Glasgow's finest Touch team triumphed in the third Scottish Touch Series event on home soil at Kelvinside Academy pitches on 26 August.

Glasgow GeckosA closely fought battle saw them win out 5-3 and deny Galaxy Scotland their second successive STS victory winning in Aberdeen.  The result puts Geckos in third place overall with just the Edinburgh STS on 29 September to go.  Earlier Superhands had been edged out by Six Pack for third, however, it was more than enough for the Edinburgh side to march to the top of the STS leaderboard, opening a 9-point gap in the process - and just reward for a consistent showing in every STS event so far.

Superhands had to survive a nailbiting dropoff win against old adversaries Activitymix Guerillas but the Aberdeen side fought off a spirited challenge from Glasgow Lions to ensure that the Quaich would return with them courtesy of a 4-2 win.  The ever-improving Blue Jays defeated Superhands Academy 7-2 to take the Shield and Flossie Possie edged out a Glasgow Lions B side 3-2 in a drop off.

Pierre Joly (pictured below) from Superhands proved a popular choice in scooping up the tournament MVP award while Louise Heritage from Lions took the Women's MVP.

With the race at the top getting ever closer, it now falls to the final STS in Edinburgh on 29 September - contact edinburgh@touchsuperleague.org.uk for more information.
