Women’s 30s

Scotland will not be entering a W30 team into the 2012 European Championships

Unfortunately, due to a large number of withdrawals from the squad and the fact that, based on the current expression of interest for the 2012 Euros, there will not be a W30 division at the tournament, we faced the prospect of having a less than full strength team playing in an Open division, with no prospect of being able to contribute towards Scotland’s points total.

Following consultation with the remaining players, the decision has been taken by the NSMC, NSCD and High Performance Director to not enter a Scotland W30 squad into the 2012 European Championship.

Scotland remains committed to supporting this team beyond this year’s international tournament and will be looking to enter a Senior Women’s team at the next international tournament, if this can become a viable division in its own right.

The STA has taken up the issue of age-restricted women’s touch and the viability of the division with the European Federation of Touch and the other major European Touch playing nations.

Men’s 35s

Scotland will enter a M35 team into the 2012 European Championships.

Although it had been hoped to enter both a M35 and a M40 side, it was felt that the best way forward would be to concentrate our senior squad resources into one team.  Following discussions between the coaches, the NSMC, the NSCD and the High Performance Director it was agreed that an M35 squad would be entered into the tournament.  The squad will be announced in due course.
