The National Squad Coaching Director, Robbie McKenzie, commented:

"We are delighted with the strength of our 2012 coaching team.

As well as some familiar faces, we have some new coaches joining the team this year which is exciting. We welcome Dave Sheehan to the role of WO coach. Dave arrives from Australia in February and brings with him a wealth of experience coaching women’s touch in Queensland.

We also welcome Cameron Day to the coaching team as Head Coach of the Senior Mixed. Cameron has been central in the coaching of club and regional touch in Glasgow in recent years.

Ross Alexander joins the coaching team for the first time. Ross is a very experienced player and will help Iain Gray develop a talented group of over 30s women.

Coaching the combined Mens 35s & 40s training squad will be the experienced duo of Monica Coyle and Martin Macari. Monica has been responsible for coordinating coaching in the North East for a number of years and Martin brings with him years of experience and a fresh set of ideas for this group of players. I'm excited to see this group develop.

I have no doubt the squads will prosper under these talented coaches and I wish the 2012 coaching team all the best for the coming season."

The next stage is for selection of the 2012 training squads for each of the above teams. This programme commences on Saturday 3rd September in Aberdeen at the National Touch Championships with final training squads announced shortly after an Open Trial taking place on Sunday 18th September.
