Scottish Sports Association Associate Membership Approved

3 Oct 2011 @ 10:00 BST

At the Scottish Sports Association (SSA) AGM on 20 September 2011, STA Vice President Gordon McEwen accepted the offer of Associate Membership into the SSA. The SSA brings Scottish sports governing bodies and recreation organisations together in a powerful group which strives to make sure that sports policies work in practice.

SSA do this by working with government, business, the voluntary sector and other key organisations to shape, strengthen and promote sport in Scotland. The AGM was attended by the Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport, Shona Robison, who had visited the Touch World Cup back in June.

The STA will use the SSA to help build capacity within the organisation as it moves towards changing its status to an incorporated body with charitable status from 1 January 2012. The SSA will provide technical expertise, networking and partnership opportunities with other sports and opportunities to meet with potential sponsors in the public and private sector.
