Tour off to a dashing start

27 Nov 2010 @ 16:35 GMT

With delayed flights out of Edinburgh and Aberdeen, it was too close to call if any of the Scots would make it to London Heathrow on time for our 9.10pm departure for Singapore on Friday night.

Unfortunately the extreme weather in the north of the country meant that Aberdeen based Paraic and Campbell were delayed and unable to join the team in Singapore tonight - although they are in the air right now and should be joining us early tomorrow Singapore time... just hours before we head to the playing fields.

It wasn't plain sailing for the Edinburgh departures either, with a long run to the far end of Terminal 3 at Heathrow we managed to get on board. Sadly Iain's luggage did not make the transfer, and it will be here hopefully before we leave for Sydney!

The weather here is a stark contrast to the snowy conditions we've left behind in Scotland. Temperatures are in the 20-30° ball park and obviously humid, we're going into tomorrows matches with conservation on our minds. We've got lots of running to do in an unfamiliar heat.

Fan's take a photo opportunityTonight we've had a walk around the harbour and went for a team dinner, where the locals picked us out as the touring Scottish Touch Rugby team - clearly there is plenty of anticipation before the test! Some fans took the opportunity for a photo with some of their heros, even if our "national hero" is still on his way.

After dinner we wandered to a nearby bar to watch some of the Rugby on TV, but with a long flight we've all returned home now and are tucked in before the big day tomorrow.

We will be sure to get results up online as soon as practical following the matches. Keep an eye out here and also on Facebook - www.facebook.com/sta.australeastasia.2010.
